The 2016 Women's European Water Polo Championship was held in Belgrade, Serbia.[2]

Hungary won their third title by defeating the Netherlands 9–7 in the final. Italy captured the bronze medal after a 10–9 win over Spain.[3]

Format

The twelve teams were split into two groups of six teams. The first four placed teams advance to the knockout stage, from which on a knockout-system will be used to determine the final positions.
