The flood claimed life of more than 40 people and it was most deadly in East Azerbaijan province where it left 37 dead. CauseThe flood followed after a heavy rain fall for about a day. The rain fall had a maximum of 47.1 mm in Azarshahr which accompanied by 90 km/h wind.[2] CasualtiesMore than 40 people lost their life in this flood.[3] Majority of casualties are reported are from East Azerbaijan province including 17 people who trapped in the flash flood while commuting under a bridge over Seil Chaii in the entrance of Ghallehzar village. While normal traffic to the road was not blocked, cars were commuting through the road next to the flooded river. In a sudden flood flash 5 cars driven away by the flood and all 17 passenger of the cars were killed.[4] The biggest of casualties incident was in Chenar, Ajab Shir where 21 residents flown away in a flash flood. In the days after the flood bodies of 17 victim recovered.
