Elections to Perth and Kinross Council were held on 4 May 2017, the same day as the other Scottish local government elections. The election covered the twelve wards created as a result of the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004, with each ward electing three or four councillors using the single transferable vote system a form of proportional representation, with 40 Councillors being elected, a reduction of 1 member compared to 2012. Following the 2012 election a Scottish National Party minority administration took over the running of the Council with the support of the Scottish Conservatives. After this election, the Conservatives and Liberal Democrat groups formed a coalition with independents to run the administration.[1] The sole Labour councillor, Alasdair Bailey, was initially named as part of the coalition, but soon insisted that he was not.[2] Election results{{Election Summary Begin|title = Perth and Kinross Local Election Result 2017[3]}}{{Election Summary Party||party = Scottish Conservative Party |seats = 17 |gain = |loss = |net = {{increase}}7 |seats % = |votes % = 40.89 |votes = 24,761 |plus/minus = {{increase}}15.71 }}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Scottish National Party |seats = 15 |gain = |loss = |net = {{decrease}}3 |seats % = |votes % = 30.16 |votes = 18,871 |plus/minus = {{decrease}}10.15 }}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Scottish Liberal Democrats |seats = 4 |gain = |loss = |net = {{decrease}}1 |seats % = |votes % = 12.45 |votes = 7,539 |plus/minus = {{decrease}}0.27 }}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Scottish Labour Party |seats = 1 |gain = |loss = |net = {{decrease}}3 |seats % = |votes % = 5.19 |votes = 3,142 |plus/minus = {{decrease}}6.66 }}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Independent (politician) |seats = 3 |gain = |loss = |net = {{nochange}} |seats % = |votes % = 6.74 |votes = 4,083 |plus/minus = {{decrease}}0.55 }}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Scottish Green Party |seats = 0 |gain = - |loss = - |net = - |seats % = - |votes % = 3.44 |votes = 2,083 |plus/minus = {{increase}}2.48 }}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Other parties |seats = 0 |gain = - |loss = - |net = - |seats % = - |votes % = 0.13 |votes = 78 |plus/minus = {{decrease}}0.83 }}{{Election box end}}Note: "Votes" are the first preference votes.
