The 2018 American salmonella outbreak was an American disaster in which over 250 people[1] were sickened by chicken salad contaminated with salmonella. Other outbreaks were confirmed with turkey identified as the cause. TimelineThe chicken salad was made by an Iowa-based food processing company Triple T Specialty Meats and distributed in Fareway supermarket.[2] One person in Iowa died, and more than 90 others were hospitalized.[3] At least 48 lawsuits have been filed against Triple-T and Fareway from outbreak victims.[4] It was reported by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention that since last November 164 people had fallen ill in 35 states due to raw turkey.
