It was the fourth edition of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and the second event of the 2018 UCI World Tour.[1][2] Australian rider Jay McCarthy ({{ct|BOH|2018}}) led home a 24-rider select group at the finish to take the victory,[3] ahead of Italy's Elia Viviani from the {{ct|QST|2018}} team in second position, while South Africa's Daryl Impey, the World Tour ranking leader, completed the podium for {{ct|MTS men|2018}}. TeamsAs the race was only added to the UCI World Tour calendar in 2017, all UCI WorldTeams were invited to the race, but not obligated to compete in the race. As such, twelve of the eighteen WorldTeams competed in the race,[4] down one on 2017. Three UCI Professional Continental teams competed – also one fewer than 2017 – while an Australian national squad completed the 16-team peloton. {{cyclingteamlist|ALM|BMC|BOH|DDD|KAT|TLJ|LTS|MTS men|QST|SKY|SUN|TFS|title = UCI WorldTeams|year=2018}}{{cyclingteamlist|title = Wildcard teams|year=2018|ABS|ICA|RNL|team1=Australia (national team)}}Result{{cyclingresult start|title=Result[5]}}{{Cyclingresult|1|Jay McCarthy|AUS|{{ct|BOH|2018}}|4h 04' 00"}}{{Cyclingresult|2|Elia Viviani|ITA|{{ct|QST|2018}}|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult|3|Daryl Impey|RSA|{{ct|MTS men|2018}}|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult|4|Dries Devenyns|BEL|{{ct|QST|2018}}|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult|5|Simon Gerrans|AUS|{{ct|BMC|2018}}|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult|6|Nikias Arndt|GER|{{ct|SUN|2018}}|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult|7|Steele Von Hoff|AUS|Australia (national team)|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult|8|Maurits Lammertink|NED|{{ct|TKA|2018}}|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult|9|Enrico Battaglin|ITA|{{ct|TLJ|2018}}|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult|10|Lars Bak|DEN|{{ct|LTS|2018}}|+ 0"}}{{Cyclingresult end}}References1. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/uci-announces-2018-road-calendar/ |title=UCI announces 2018 road calendar |accessdate=20 October 2017 |work=Cycling News}} 2. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.velon.cc/en/news/2017/09/uci-confirm-worldtour-calendar-for-2018 |title=2018 UCI WorldTour calendar unveiled |accessdate=20 October 2016 |work=Velon}} 3. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/latest-news/jay-mccarthy-becomes-first-australian-win-cadel-evans-great-ocean-road-race-367296|first=Chris|last=Marshall-Bell|title=Jay McCarthy becomes first Australian to win Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race|work=Cycling Weekly|publisher=Time Inc.
