释义 |
Idaho's Proposition 2 is an initiative which addressed the so-called Medicaid gap. A notable grassroots canvassing drive[1][2] gathered the prerequisite percentage of signatures of registered voters in the prerequisite number of legislative districts in the far-flung and deeply Republican state, namely 6% of all registered voters – a total of 56,192 signatures – in at least 18 of the 35 state's legislative districts, to place it on the ballot for the 2018 midterm elections. Ultimately over 70,000 signatures were collected.[3] Medicaid expansion was supported by (amongst others) the Democratic gubernatorial candidate Paulette Jordan,[4] and the measure itself was opposed by the newly formed Political Action Committee Work, Not Obamacare PAC, an offshoot of the Idaho Freedom Foundation.[5] The proposition overwhelmingly passed with 60.6% of the vote, but nonetheless is being challenged by the IFF in court in a lawsuit which would be payed for the taxpayers [6] despite already being the law.[7] The success of the campaign has been noted as an example of rural conservative voters voting for liberal measures.[8] References1. ^{{cite news|last=Manny|first=Bill|title=Luke Mayville and his Medicaid for Idaho campaign are proving us political ‘experts’ wrong|url=http://www.idahostatesman.com/opinion/bill-manny/article208784784.html|newspaper=Idaho Statesman|date=April 13, 2018|access-date=April 14, 2018}} 2. ^{{cite news|last=Young|first=Jeffrey|title=In This Red State, Progressives Are Taking Matters Into Their Own Hands Amateur activists, sick of being ignored by the GOP, are fighting to cover the uninsured.|url=https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/in-this-red-state-progressives-are-taking-matters-into-their-own-hands_us_5aadb598e4b0337adf8449fa|website=HuffPost|date=March 21, 2018|access-date=April 15, 2018}} 3. ^{{cite news|last=McCarter|first=Joan|title=It's official, Medicaid expansion will be on Idaho's ballot|url=https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/7/6/1778532/-It-s-official-Medicaid-expansion-will-be-on-Idaho-s-ballot|publisher=Daily Kos|date=July 6, 2018|access-date=July 8, 2018}} 4. ^{{cite web|last=Jordan|first=Paulette |title=Medicaid Expansion|url=http://www.jordanforgovernor.com/priorities/|website=JordanforGovernor.com|access-date=October 8, 2018}} 5. ^{{cite news|last=Davlin|first=Melissa|title=Newly formed ‘Work, Not Obamacare PAC’ to fight Idaho Medicaid expansion|url=https://www.idahostatesman.com/news/politics-government/election/article217944315.html|newspaper=Idaho Statesman|date=September 6, 2018|access-date=September 10, 2018}} 6. ^{{Cite web |url=https://www.idahostatesman.com/opinion/editorials/article221563325.html |title=Listen up, IFF: Idahoans should get what they voted for with Prop 2 |last=n/a |first=n/a |date=2018-11-17 |website=The Idaho Statesman |access-date=2018-12-01}} 7. ^{{Cite web |url=https://www.cdapress.com/local_news/20181227/ag_zings_iff_lawsuit |title=AG ZINGS IFF LAWSUIT |last=Wilson |first=Judd |date=2018-12-27 |website=The Coeur d'Alene/Post Falls Press |access-date=2018-12-28}} 8. ^{{Cite web |url=http://www.governing.com/topics/politics/gov-conservative-voters-minimum-wage-medicaid.html |title=Why Are Conservative Voters Supporting Liberal Ballot Measures?
