The team is based at the City Football Academy at La Trobe University and plays home games at both AAMI Park and CB Smith Reserve. Melbourne City enters the season having won the past three W-League Grand Finals. This is the first season they will be without Jess Fishlock as she joined Olympique Lyonnais instead of playing in the W-League. On 19 June 2018 Rado Vidošić was appointed as the new head coach.[1] PlayersSquad InformationMelbourne City's Women squad, updated 27 October 2018.[2] {{fs start}}{{fs player| no=1 | nat=AUS | pos=GK | name=Lydia Williams }}{{fs player| no=2 | nat=JPN | pos=DF | name=Yukari Kinga }}{{fs player| no=3 | nat=USA | pos=DF | name=Lauren Barnes }}{{fs player| no=4 | nat=AUS | pos=DF | name=Chelsea Blissett }}{{fs player| no=5 | nat=AUS | pos=FW | name=Helen Cáceres}}{{fs player| no=7| nat=AUS | pos=DF | name=Steph Catley}}{{fs player| no=8 | nat=AUS | pos=FW | name=Elise Kellond-Knight }}{{fs player| no=9 | nat=ENG | pos=FW | name=Jodie Taylor }}{{fs player| no=10 | nat=AUS | pos=MF | name=Nia Stamatopoulos }}{{fs player| no=11| nat=AUS | pos=FW | name=Rhali Dobson}}{{fs player| no=12| nat=AUS | pos=FW | name=Adriana Jones}}{{fs mid}}{{fs player| no=13| nat=NZL | pos=DF | name=Rebekah Stott}}{{fs player| no=14| nat=AUS | pos=FW | name=Shelby Green}}{{fs player| no=15| nat=AUS | pos=MF | name=Amy Jackson}}{{fs player| no=16| nat=AUS | pos=MF | name=Sofia Sakalis}}{{fs player| no=17| nat=AUS | pos=FW | name=Kyah Simon}}{{fs player| no=19| nat=AUS | pos=DF | name=Tyla-Jay Vlajnic}}{{fs player| no=21| nat=AUS | pos=FW | name=Janna Lawson}}{{fs player| no=22 | nat=USA | pos=FW | name=Jasmyne Spencer}}{{fs player| no=23| nat=AUS | pos=GK | name=Melissa Barbieri}}{{fs player| no=31 | nat=AUS | pos=MF | name=Tameka Butt }}{{fs player| no=88 | nat=DEN | pos=DF | name=Theresa Nielsen}}{{fs end}}Transfers In{{fb in2 header |eu=n|age=y}}{{fb in2 player |n=6 |nb=AUS |pos=FW |p=Helen Caceres |age=25|type=Transfer |w=Pre-season |e= |f= |fcl=Western Sydney Wanderers |os=[3]}}{{fb in2 player |n=12 |nb=AUS |pos=FW |p=Adriana Jones |age=|type=Transfer |w=Pre-season |e= |f= |fcl=Adelaide United |os=[3]}}{{fb in2 player |n= |nb=AUS |pos=MF |p=Elise Kellond-Knight |age=28|type=Transfer |w=Pre-season |e= |f= |fcl={{flagicon|SWE}} Hammarby |os=[3]}}{{fb in2 player |n= |nb=AUS |pos=MF |p=Tameka Butt |age=27|type=Transfer |w=Pre-season |e= |f= |fcl={{flagicon|NOR}} Klepp IL |os=[3]}}{{fb in2 player |n=88 |nb=DEN |pos=DF |p=Theresa Nielsen |age=32|type=Loan |w=Pre-season |e= |f= |fcl={{flagicon|USA}} Seattle Reign |os=[4]}}{{fb in2 player |n=22 |nb=USA |pos=FW |p=Jasmyne Spencer |age=28|type=Loan |w=Pre-season |e= |f= |fcl={{flagicon|USA}} Seattle Reign |os=[4]}}{{fb in2 player |n= |nb=AUS |pos=MF |p=Nia Stamatopoulos |age=15 |type=Youth |w=Pre-season |e= |f= |fcl= |os=[5]}}{{fb in2 player |n= |nb=AUS |pos=DF |p=Chelsea Blissett |age=18 |type=Transfer |w=Pre-season |e= |f= |fcl=South Melbourne |os=[5]}}{{fb out2 footer|date=October 2018}}Transfers out{{fb out2 header |eu=n|age=y}}{{fb out2 player |n=10 |pos=MF|nb=WAL|p=Jess Fishlock|age=31 |ncl=Seattle Reign |type=Loan Return |w=Pre-season |f= |os=}}{{fb out2 player |n=4 |pos=FW|nb=USA|p=Ashley Hatch|age=23 |ncl=North Carolina Courage |type=Loan Return |w=Pre-season |f= |os=}}{{fb out2 player |n=14 |pos=DF|nb=AUS|p=Alanna Kennedy|age=23 |ncl=Sydney FC |type=Transfer |w=Pre-season |f= |os=[6]}}{{fb out2 footer|date=October 2018}}W-League{{Main|2018–19 W-League}}League table{{2018–19 W-League table|showteam=MCY}}Fixtures{{footballbox collapsible|round = 1 |date = 28 October 2018 |time = 16:00 AEDT |team1 = Canberra United |score = 2–0 |report = https://www.w-league.com.au/match/canberra-united-women-v-melbourne-city-fc-women-w-league-28-10-2018/1022452 |team2 = Melbourne City |goals1 =
