The season started on 10 August 2018 and is scheduled to finish on 12 May 2019.[2][3] Fixtures for the 2018–19 season were announced on 14 June 2018.[4] Manchester City are the defending champions. Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cardiff City and Fulham joined as the promoted clubs from the 2017–18 EFL Championship. They replaced West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City and Stoke City who were relegated to the 2018–19 EFL Championship. The season saw the occurrence of two aviation incidents involving Premier League personnel. On 27 October 2018, Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was killed in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium, shortly after a 1–1 home draw against West Ham United. Almost three months later, on 21 January 2019, Cardiff City player Emiliano Sala, en route to join the club following his record signing from Nantes, died on board a Piper PA-46 Malibu aircraft that crashed off Alderney.[5] Huddersfield Town were the first team to be relegated, following their 2–0 defeat at Crystal Palace on 30 March 2019, coinciding with victories for Burnley and Southampton. They were relegated with six games remaining. This made Huddersfield the second team to be relegated before March ended, following Derby County in 2007–08. Fulham joined them after a 4–1 defeat at Watford on 2 April, relegated with five games remaining. Teams{{See also |List of Premier League clubs}}Twenty teams compete in the league – the top seventeen teams from the previous season and the three teams promoted from the Championship. The promoted teams are Wolverhampton Wanderers (returning to the top flight after a six-year absence), Cardiff City and Fulham (both teams returning after a four-year absence). They replaced Swansea City, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, ending their top flight spells of seven, ten and eight years respectively. {{clear}}Stadiums and locations{{location map+ |England |width=440 |float=right |caption=Locations of the 2018–19 Premier League teams |places={{location map~ |England |lat=51.5155 |long= -0.0922 |label_size=80|label=London|mark=Blue pog.svg|position=right}}{{location map~ |England |lat=50.735232 |long=-1.838287 |label_size=80|label={{nowrap|Bournemouth}}|position=bottom}}{{location map~ |England |lat=50.861551 |long=-0.083624 |label_size=80|label={{nowrap|Brighton &Hove Albion}} |position=right}}{{location map~ |England |lat=53.788992 |long=-2.230194 |label_size=80|label=Burnley|position=left}}{{location map~ |England |lat=51.4728 |long=-3.2030 |label_size=80|label=Cardiff City|position=left}}{{location map~ |England |lat=53.438846 |long=-2.966285 |label_size=80|label=Everton|position=left}}{{location map~ |England |lat=53.654271 |long=-1.768365 |label_size=80|label=Huddersfield Town|position=right}}{{location map~ |England |lat=52.620392 |long=-1.142267 |label_size=80|label={{nowrap|Leicester City}}|position=right}}{{location map~ |England |lat=53.430845 |long=-2.960823 |label_size=80|label=Liverpool|position=bottom}}{{location map~ |England |lat=53.47 |long=-2.25 |label_size=80|label={{nowrap|Manchester City}} {{nowrap|Manchester United}}|position=right}}{{location map~ |England |lat=54.9756 |long=-1.6217 |label_size=80|label={{nowrap|Newcastle United}}|position=left}}{{location map~ |England |lat=50.905826 |long=-1.390975 |label_size=80|label=Southampton|position=left}}{{location map~ |England |lat=51.649906 |long=-0.401531 |label_size=80|label=Watford|position=left}}{{location map~ |England |lat=52.5902 |long=-2.1304 |label_size=80|label=Wolverhampton Wanderers|position=left}}{{Location map~ |England |mark=TransparentPlaceholder.png |marksize=1 |lat=55.7 |long=-0.2 |label_size=80|label=London teams: Arsenal Chelsea Crystal Palace Fulham Tottenham Hotspur West Ham United |position=right}} }}{{Location map+|Greater London |width=300 |float=right |caption=Greater London Premier League football clubs |alt=Greater London Premier League football clubs |places = {{Location map~ |Greater London |lat=51.557311 |long=-0.116789 |mark=Blue 000080 pog.svg|label='''Arsenal'''|label_size=75|marksize=|position=top}} {{Location map~ |Greater London |lat=51.481667 |long=-0.191111 |mark=Blue 000080 pog.svg|label='''Chelsea'''|label_size=75|marksize=|position=right}} {{Location map~ |Greater London |lat=51.398333 |long=-0.085556 |mark=Blue 000080 pog.svg |label='''{{nowrap|Crystal Palace}}'''|label_size=75|marksize=|position=bottom}} {{Location map~ |Greater London |lat=51.475 |long=-0.221667 |mark=Blue 000080 pog.svg |label='''{{nowrap|Fulham}}'''|label_size=75|marksize=|position=left}} {{Location map~ |Greater London |lat=51.555833 |long=-0.279722 |mark=Blue 000080 pog.svg |label='''{{nowrap|Tottenham }} Note: Table lists in alphabetical order.
