  • 2 January -
    • The digital switchover in Singapore is completed, and analogue television ended operation.[1]
    • The permanent restricted area in the delegated airspace over Pasir Gudang by Malaysia, in response to the new Instrument Landing System procedures at Seletar Airport, was operational. It would have impacted normal, existing air traffic in the airspace above Johor and Singapore.[2] The restricted airspace and ILS procedures were later suspended, pending ongoing technical discussions between the two countries.
  • 12 January - Woman Chen Si Jie won $193,400 in the long-running MediaCorp Channel 8 game show The Sheng Siong Show, surpassing Low Soh Kim's winnings of $162,550 (which was previously won on 18 February 2017) as the all-time biggest winner in the show's history.[3][4][5]
  • 13 January - The Ten Mile Junction LRT Station, part of the Bukit Panjang LRT line, became the first-ever operational train station in Singapore, MRT or LRT, to permanently ceased operation.[6]
  • 25 January - The first phase of the Cross Island MRT Line was unveiled- A 12 station line spanning 29-km from Changi, Loyang, Pasir Ris, Defu, Hougang, Ang Mo Kio and Bishan, was announced to be completed by 2029.[7]
  • 26 January -
    • A brief power outage struck Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh and Thomson. The outage was traced to a fire in the Bright Hill substation.[8]
    • Wisma Geylang Serai opened in Geylang.[9]
  • 28 January -
    • Singapore celebrated its 200th Anniversary of the modern foundation of Singapore by Stamford Raffles.[10]
    • Ministry of Health revealed that personal data of about 14,200 people with HIV were illegally disclosed.[11]

  • 14 February -
    • MediaCorp Internet Television site Toggle collaborates with HBO GO. [12]
    • A power outage struck central Singapore in the afternoon; it was revealed that a fire happened at the Carlton Hotel, caused by equipment failure in that substation, resulting in an electric flashover.[13]
  • 15 February - Digital Defence was unveiled as the 6th pillar of Total Defence.[14]

March

  • 7 March - Infocomm Media Development Authority made a last minute cancellation on black metal band Watain's concert in Singapore under the request from the Ministry of Home Affairs due to "security concerns". This was made after a petition that was launched the previous day, calling for Watain and Soilwork to be banned from performing in Singapore gathered more than 16,000 signatures.[15]
  • 12 March -
    • Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore temporarily suspended operation of all variants of Boeing 737 MAX into and out of Singapore's airspace in light of Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashes happening within five months of each other.[16]
    • Mobike became the third major bicycle sharing operator to withdraw its operation in Singapore.[17]
  • 14 March - Singapore and Malaysia have reached an agreement on the maritime issue, which suspended the port limits imposed previously.[18]
  • 15 March - Health Sciences Authority revealed that 800,000 patients' blood donations were leaked in a vulnerability. It was later revealed that there was unauthorized access.[19][20]
  • 22 to 30 March - PCF Sparkletots pre-schools reported that a total 251 children from the 13 pre-schools in Singapore fell victim to food poisoning (diarrhoea) from the food served by Kate's Catering. Kate's Catering had their licenses suspended, and investigations were conducted. This was the second mass food poisoning case in a gap of five months.[21]
  • 29 March - Channel NewsAsia was rebranded as CNA, along with announcements to launch a new radio station and citizen journalism site at a later date, during the 20th birthday dinner.[22][23]

April

  • 1 April - A Bill to tackle the spread of online falsehoods was introduced in Parliament, with a fine/jail term imposed for rule violation.[24][25]
  • 3 April - Ministry of Trade and Industry unveiled an expansion plan billed about S$9 billion for Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa, along with plans to increase hotel capacity, casino levies and taxes.[26]
  • 6 April - Singapore and Malaysia have reached an agreement on the aviation issue. Among them are to suspend the ILS at Seletar Airport; allowing Firefly to resume flights to Singapore, and the suspension of the proposed restricted area in Pasir Gudang.[27]
  • 8 April - Singapore and Malaysia have suspended the port limits claims, reverting to pre-October boundaries. A group will be formed to delineate the boundary.[28]

  • The first stage for the Thomson–East Coast MRT line, which consist of Woodlands North, Woodlands and Woodlands South, opens.
