Legislative Assembly elections are due to be held in Odisha in 2019,[1] concurrent with the Indian general election, 2019. The incumbent Biju Janata Dal headed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress Party are considered to be the main contestants in the election.Four Bjd MPs joined BJP and Congress due after denied for Tickets.Many Bjp leaders after getting BJP ticket too joined Biju Janata Dal.The term of current assembly elected in 2014 will be expire on 24 May 2019.

The 2019 Lok Sabha polls in the 21 constituencies in Odisha and Odisha Assembly Elections will be held in the first 4 out of the 7 scheduled phases of 2019 Indian general election.

Election Schedule

On March 10th, the Election Commission of India announced the dates of the election. Legislative Assembly Elections in Odisha in 2019 are scheduled to be held concurrently with Indian General Elections - 2019 in 4 phases - April 11, 18, 23 and 29.The counting of votes will be on May 23.

First Phase - Polling will be held in Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Koraput Lok Sabha segments and Assembly seats under their jurisdiction on April 11 on first phase,

Second Phase - Voters in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska Lok Sabha seats and assembly segments under them will franchise their rights in second phase on April 18.

Third phase - Polling will be held in Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Puri and Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha segments and assembly constituencies under them on April 23.

Fourth Phase - Polling will be held in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha segments and assembly constituencies under them on April 29.
