HistoryThe origin of the first settlers of Velidhu{{Clarify|date=January 2013|reason=Is it Velidhoo or Velidhu?}} remains a mystery. Historians date the earliest settlements to the 5th century BC with Aryan immigrants coming from India and Sri Lanka. The island has many historic monuments including a tree (Velidhu bodu nikagas), which has been there for more than five centuries. Much of the history of Velidhu is unknown, but research is ongoing. GeographyThe island is {{convert|166.52|km|mi nmi|0|abbr=on}} north of the country's capital, Malé.[2] DemographyThe Veliduans are a mix of people from two of the nearby islands in the atoll, Magoodhoo and Tholhendhoo. Velidhu is the most populous island of Noonu Atoll.
