It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.[1] HistoryIt was built in 1852 by John Cunningham. It was acquired by the State Planning Authority in 1970 in order to protect its historic interest, as an early conservation measure prior to the existence of heritage listing. It was restored by its then-owner, the Department of Planning and Environment, in 1972.[2][3][4][5] It is now used as a medical practice.[3] DescriptionIt is a brick Georgian single storey cottage of three bays with corrugated iron roof and timber verandah. The front door has been altered and replaced and the ridges altered, but otherwise the building appears original. A timber outbuilding is also heritage-listed.[7] It is an authentic early cottage which maintains the colonial character of Thompson Square.[6] It is located in the Thompson Square Conservation Area.[6] Heritage listing5 Thompson Square was listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.[1] See also{{portal|Sydney}}References1. ^1 {{cite NSW SHR|5045184|House & Outbuildings|hr=00005|fn=S90/06110 & HC 32180|accessdate=13 October 2018}} 2. ^{{cite web | url=https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/projects/sydney-west/windsor-bridge-replacement/windsor-bridge-historic-heritage-working-paper-pt-9a.pdf | title=Historic Heritage Assessment & Statement of Heritage Impact | publisher=Roads and Maritime Services | accessdate=30 October 2018}} 3. ^1 {{cite web | url=http://www.cawb.com.au/5-thompson-square-windsor.html | title=5 Thompson Square, Windsor | publisher=Community Action for Windsor Bridge | accessdate=30 October 2018}} 4. ^{{cite news | url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/120690467/?terms=%225%2Bthompson%2Bsquare%22 | title=How buildings are protected | work=Sydney Morning Herald | date=8 November 1971 | accessdate=30 October 2018}} 5. ^{{cite web | url=http://huntershilltrust.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Parliamentary-Inquiry-into-Windsor-Bridge-Replacement-Project-F.doc | title=Re: Inquiry into the Windsor Bridge replacement project | publisher=Hunters Hill Trust | accessdate=30 October 2018}} 6. ^1 2 {{cite web | url=https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/heritageapp/ViewHeritageItemDetails.aspx?ID=1741047 | title=House and Outbuildings | publisher=Office of Environment and Heritage | work=State Heritage Inventory | accessdate=30 October 2018}} Bibliography
