The design is out of production.[1][2][3] The boat was built by Abbott Boats in Sarnia, Ontario,Canada. The company built 40 examples starting in 1981.[1] The Abbott 33 is a development of Larsen's SCAN-KAP 99 design, which was built in Denmark.[1] DesignThe Abbott 33 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop rig, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder and a fixed fin keel. It displaces {{convert|6057|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|3304|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.[1][2] The boat has a draft of {{convert|5.42|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the standard keel. The boat is fitted with a fresh water tank with a capacity of {{convert|15|u.s.gal}}.[1] The boat has a PHRF racing average handicap of 126 with a high of 132 and low of 120.
