Early life and educationRubenstein was born into a Jewish family in New Jersey. He attended Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.[2] In late 2018, Rubenstein was selected as one of the college's "newsmakers" for his spat with Rep. Steve King.[3] CareerRubenstein was hired as a Robert L. Bartley Fellow on the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal.[2] He was also a Public Interest Fellow, and the assistant opinion editor of the now-defunct Weekly Standard. According to his biography on the Weekly Standard Notable articlesRubenstein's work became notable during the 2018 mid-term election cycle, for his coverage of Representative Steve King (IA-4). Reporting from Webster City, Iowa, Rubenstein wrote a piece in the Standard, pointing out that King had referred to migrants coming from Mexico as "dirt." In a long Twitter feud, King demanded that the Weekly Standard "release the full tape,"[4][5] and called Rubenstein a "junk yard dog." Editor-in-chief of the Weekly Standard, Stephen F. Hayes posted a note on the magazine's website stating that "we stand by the story."[6] At the Weekly Standard, Rubenstein also wrote a cover story on Charlie Kirk and TPUSA, and a review of his book, which he called a "hot mess" and likened to "direct mail copy."[7][8] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=https://politi.co/2F07eAh|title=Hello, Goodbye — White House silence — The Instagram Election — Denying deniers|website=POLITICO Media|language=en|access-date=2019-01-21}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Rubenstein, Adam}}2. ^1 {{Cite web|url=https://www.weeklystandard.com/author/adam-rubenstein|title=Adam Rubenstein|website=The Weekly Standard|language=en|access-date=2019-01-21}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.kenyon.edu/middle-path/story/kenyon-newsmakers/|title=Kenyon Newsmakers · Along Middle Path|website=www.kenyon.edu|language=en|access-date=2019-01-21}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.npr.org/2018/11/13/667269088/rep-steve-king-denied-comparing-immigrants-to-dirt-audio-says-otherwise|title=Rep.
