He leads the Wisconsin Internet and Systems Research (WISR) Lab [1] and is one of the Principal Investigators leading CloudLab.[2] In 2014, SIGCOMM gave him their Rising Star Award.[3] BiographyAfter undergraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 2000, he received his PhD in 2005 from Carnegie Mellon University, with a thesis entitled End Point-based Routing Strategies for Improving Internet Performance and Resilience; his advisor was Srinivasan Seshan.[4][5] After a one-year post-doc at Stanford University, he joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an assistant professor. Aditya Akella became an associate professor in 2012 and a professor in 2017.[6][7] Professor Akella has received numerous awards such as H.I. Romnes Faculty Fellowship, the Google Faculty Research Award for Low Latency Networking, SACM Student Choice Professor of the Year Award, Vilas Associate and Applied Networking Research Prize. He is the Vice-chair of ACM SIGCOMM; on the steering committees of NSDI, HotNets, SOSR and has recently served as the co-chair for Sigmetrics, NSDI, SIGCOMM, MobiCom, NeTS Early Career Workshop, ICNP, IMC, HotSDN and HotNets.
