The highlight of her career was winning the gold medals in 400 and 800 meter freestyle swimming at the 1990 South American Games in Peru. CareerSalvatore began her sports career at the swimming academy of Gastón Thoret at the age of seven, inspired by fellow Ecuadorian Mariuxi Febres Cordero.
