Adval Tech Holding is a Swiss Stock Company,[1] located in Niederwangen (district of Köniz, Bern in Western Switzerland), and currently trading as {{SWX link|ADVN}}. It is active in the machinery industry for high-volume components manufactured in metal and plastic. Adval Tech focuses on the automotive market[2] and related applications. They cover the entire value chain including product development, prototype development, mold and tool development, component production, and assembly. They specialize in the production of tools, punching, forming processes (of metal), injection molding, assembly, systems, and serial parts.{{Citation needed|date=February 2019}}

The company's series-production plastic components are used in cars and for other technically demanding applications. Components made for cars include air flow elements, airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), steering, lighting systems, seat belt buckles, and trim strips. Adval Tech specially manufactures components of air flow systems for Audi, and air/water separation systems for BMW. The company also produces parts and sub-assemblies containing metal and plastic components, such as door sill plates for BMW.

The group primarily delivers its plastic components directly to car manufacturers (OEMs) and to first-tier customers who supply the car manufacturers directly. Having acquired Fischer IMF in April 2016, Adval Tech Holding now also supplies metal components directly to the car manufacturers, in addition to plastic parts. Some of these plastic parts are for premium sewing machines or sophisticated safety-related components and are produced in large batches.

History

In 1924, Adval Tech Holding was a mechanical workshop in [Bümpliz-Oberbottigen|Bümpliz] (Berne). It was founded by Fritz Styner and Rudolf Bienz. It was a collective company originally titled Styner + Bienz.[1] In 1942, it was converted into an Aktiengesellschaft (stock market company). In 1963, Styner and Bienz relocated to Niederwangen.[2] With the addition of 73 employees of AWM Muri in 1974, Sydney and Frankfort entered the field of plastic injection molding technology. In 1985, Styner + Bienz AG became the first company in Canton Berne, the first in the industry, and the sixth in Switzerland to be awarded the ISO Certificate Swiss Norm SN 029 100. In the course of a strategic reorientation, the company was renamed Advil Technology in 1997 and was listed in the stock exchange during 1998. They had their initial public offering (IPO) that same year. Shares of Advil Tech Holding AG are traded on the Zurich stock exchange. In August 2010, the fungi division FOBOHA was sold to the Barnes Group.[3][4] AWM Adval Tech produced tools for manufacturing CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, CD covers, and automotive parts as a subcontractor of Sika AG for BMW, Honda, and other car manufacturers.[5][6] Company apprentices learn specialty extrusion blow-molding. The company has employed 1,341 people since June 30, 2017, and counted a turnover of 104.2 million CHF.[7]
