Aimee Gladstone Schweig (1897–1987)[1] was an American artist known as one of the founders of the artist colony in Sainte Genevieve, Missouri. Her paintings depict primarily local subjects from the Ste. Genevieve and other Missouri areas. LifeAimee Schweig studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts and at Washington University in St. Louis.[2] She continued her studies at the Provincetown Art Colony (Provincetown, Massachusetts), and later became one of the founders of the Ste. Genevieve Art Colony.[2] She was a member of the National Association of Women Artists, the St. Louis Art Guild, and the Provincetown Art Association.[3] Her artwork was exhibited in numerous shows and she won a number of awards, including the 1945 City Art Museum Exhibition.[2] She was also featured in publications such as "An American Art Colony; The Art and Artists of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri."[2] She primarily used oil paints and her subjects varied from people to abstract art.
