R. Subba Rao and directed by C V Nandeeshwar. The film is about the ill-fated village women Akkamma's struggle towards her family welfare and empowerment in the Pre-independence era of India. PlotThe film narrates the story of a poor widow set in the backdrop of rural India from the pre-independence era. The film opens with hard-working Channiga, who much like his Father, tirelessly serves his villagers and earns their good-will with a strong belief that the whole village is one family. Channiga marries Akkamma and soon realizes that his wife has her own dreams that cannot be fulfilled from his meagre earnings primarily coming out of people's good will. She slowly acquires business skills from one of her friends who belong to trader community. She also succeeds with her experiments in preparing and selling ready-to-serve snacks and with the idea of small savings that were well ahead of the times. Her entrepreneurship, grit, and resilience, plus the goodness of people around, takes her life to the door step of prosperity. However, her fate takes its own course. Channiga dies and leaves behind Akkamma with two children. Widowed at a young age, having to face complex cultural and gender-based bias, Akkamma fights against all odds to independently build a bright future for herself and her children.Her honesty and hard-work is duly recognized by a government official who rewards her by granting a large patch of agricultural land. Dark clouds cast on her life after a vicious individual Yagganna sets his eyes on her land and starts conspiring to grab the land from her. Akkamma soon finds herself in a situation like that of a frog that is being sheltered by a snake. Cast
