In the 2018 Malaysian general election, he contested the Johor Bahru parliamentary seat under the ticket of Pakatan Harapan and won[1] a two-way contest against Shahrir Abdul Samad representing Barisan Nasional.[2] He contested the People's Justice Party party election 2018 for Chief of the Keadilan Youth Wing. He secured a narrow victory,[3][4] Before he became a Member of Parliament, he was the founder and director[5] of an NGO called National Oversight and Whistleblowers Centre (NOW)[6][7] together with Rafizi Ramli. NOW Malaysia is the NGO that was responsible in exposing national financial scandals[8] during the reign of former Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib Razak. Some of them include alleged corruption[9] in National Feedlot Corporation (NFC)[10], that involved Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, and alleged misuse[11] of funds of Malaysian Islamic Economy Development Foundation ([https://ms.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yayasan_Pembangunan_Ekonomi_Islam_Malaysia YaPEIM]) Election results
