Descriptions of their size vary greatly, males are about 32 to 41 kg and 56 to 63.5 cm at the withers; the females are smaller about 27 to 32 kg and 51 cm to 58 cm at the withers. The coat colors are varied, usually white or different shades of black, gray, red, bluish, white, brindle, brown, fawn or mahogany, always trimmed with white. Merle and their variations are common to the breed. The color of the eyes can vary from brown to blue, some dogs have eyes of two different colors at the same time (heterochromia). TemperamentIt is a trainable, obedient and alert dog with impressive features, being a family and property guard dog. They are protective and loving to the family and are known to have a strong protection instinct. They need to be socialized since early age. OriginThe breed was developed around the 1800s in the Alapaha River region of Georgia by PaPa Buck Lane of Rebecca. It was created as an attempt to recreate the extinct plantation dog breed.[3] The breed descends from the Old English Bulldog and was developed as a family guardian. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog was recognized in 1986 by the American Research Foundation in the Working dog category. Between 1986 to 2001 the American Reaserch Foundation registered about 700 dogs.
