Alexander Kellock Brown (11 February 1849 – 9 May 1922)[1] was a Scottish painter of landscapes and brother of William Kellock Brown. He painted in oils and water-colors and exhibited frequently at the Royal Scottish Academy exhibits between 1871 and 1922..[2]

He traveled and painted with such fellow artist as James Docharty[3] and E. A. Walton[4]

In addition to his body of paintings, he was involved in many art organizations in Scotland. He was elected Associate (ARSA) of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1892 and Academician (RSA) in 1908.[5] He was a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI),[6] The Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts (RGI),[7] the Glasgow Art Club,[8] an original member of The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Water Colours (RWS),[6] and a founding member of the Scottish Artists Benevolent Association.[9] He not only belonged to these organizations, but he served as: Honorary Secretary and later President of the Scottish Artists' Benevolent Association; President of the Glasgow Art Club; and held office as a member of the Council of the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.[8]
