Professor Allan Edgar Buckwell (born 10 April 1947)[1] is British academic and agricultural economist, and a former university professor, mostly involving work on the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), working at the Institute for European Environmental Policy. Early lifeHe was born on the same day as Sir Richard Feachem, another British university professor. He is the son of George Buckwell and Jessie Neave. From the University of Manchester he has an MA in Economics. CareerNewcastle UniversityFrom 1970 to 1984 he worked at Newcastle University. From 1984 to 1999 he was a university professor of Agricultural Economics. CLAFrom 2000-11 he was Policy Director of the Country Land and Business Association. Since 2012 he has been Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for European Environmental Policy. He researches the Common Agricultural Policy.[2] Publications
Personal lifeHe married Susan Hopwood in 1967, and they divorced in 1990; they have two sons. He married again in 1997. He lives in Kent. See also
