The film stars Lou Diamond Phillips, Clancy Brown, Cecilia Peck, Richard Bradford, Willard E. Pugh and Grace Zabriskie. The film was released on May 31, 1991, by Miramax Films.^[1]^[2]^[3]

Plot

Lou Diamond Phillips plays Mitchell Osgood, an aspiring writer. Between writing and being rejected by editors, Mitchell also manages a bookstore.

Clancy Brown portrays a serial killer, Albert Merrick, who is released from prison. Mitchell hires Albert at the bookstore in an attempt to learn about his crimes. Mitchell believes that writing about Albert's psychopathic history could get him published. ^[4]
