}}[1]The Amertec Building was an office building designed by alumnus of the University of Oklahoma Chayo Frank. It was located at 149 W 21st St, Hialeah, Florida, and was an example of what Chayo Frank called an "organic entity."[2] Chayo Frank was tasked to design this building by his father, the owner of Amertec-Granada, Inc. soon after his graduation from university.[3]

Chayo Frank graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1967 with a Bachelor's of Architecture. The curriculum of the program was heavily influenced by Bruce Goff, during his time as the head of the program up until 1955[4]. Goff, an organic architect, used curvilinear forms that is similar to the curvilinear forms of the Amertec building. Frank sought to explore curvilinear forms and his interest in tropical climates and used curved reinforcing bars, wire mesh, concrete, and metallic paints to do so.[3] The original designs were pencil drawings that pressed the importance of moving in a continuous manner to create a spontaneous and intuitive design.[3]

In 1981, the Amertec building was sold by Chayo Frank's father and was on the market a number of times until its foreclosure in 2011. The building was repainted from its metallic color to white and sold to Produce LLC for $600,000. In 2013 the Amertec building was repainted to include oranges and aqua colors and was used for storage[3] until 2017 when it was demolished. [2]
