His research interests are in areas of nanophotonics, plasmonics and metamaterials, nonlinear and ultrafast optics and spectroscopy, scanning probe microscopy and optical properties of surfaces, thin films, semiconductors and low-dimensional structures. He is the principal investigator[4] on the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council funded[5] programme grant Reactive Plasmonics. This is a multidisciplinary collaborative project between King’s College London and Imperial College London which aims to develop a new research field of plasmon-enhanced microscopic electronic phenomena.[6] He is a recipient of the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award[7] and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, the Optical Society of America[8], SPIE [9] and the Royal Society of Chemistry. He is a member of the Data Storage Institute's Scientific Advisory Board.
