He studied Basque Philology in Vitoria-Gasteiz. LifeHe started singing at the age of 17, and his first appearance in public was in a wedding in the Salegi Restaurant, in the town of Itziar.[1] In 1982 he took part for the first time in a bertsolari championship, the lizardi contest in Zarautz[2] He won the National Championship of Versolaris of the Basque Country, maximum competition of the discipline, in four occasions, having the record of victories that a bertsolari has achieved in history: he was finalist in the years 1986 and 1989, and won in the editions of 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005.[3] In 2009 he achieved fourth place, yielding the chapela (a hat that is given as trophy to the winner of the competition) to Maialen Lujanbio, first woman in obtaining the award.[4] Bibliography[5]Narration
