Having shown an early interest, he started playing the organ, passing the ARCO at 16 and the FRCO aged 18, then won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. He then studied for a Masters at Manchester University, then studied at Royal Holloway, University of London,[2] and Jesus College, Cambridge.[1] CareerParmley has been Director of Music at Forest School near Snaresbrook, then at South Hampstead High School, and the Grey Coat Hospital in Westminster. He is currently Principal of the Harrodian School.[1] Livery companies and the CityHe was first elected a Common Councilman for Vintry Ward in 1992 and became its Alderman in 2001.[1] His Mother Company is The Musicians, of which he is a Past Master.
