After gaining a BA in Performing arts in Manchester and training as an acting, Angus was in various bands before he started concentrating on his own music, learning to write songs, record and honing his sound. Sending his music out to anyone he could, it came to the attention of LA based Film and TV sync agent Danny Benair (also formerly of The Quick and other Power Pop acts) who started to send his music out to Music Supervisors, with great reactions. At the same time, Angus's music was heard by emergent Sync/Hybrid label Halogen Media, who signed Angus and released his debut EP "Monsters", the title track being used in worldwide TV shows "Elementary" (CBS),[1] "Kingdom" (Audience Network)[2] and Indie Film "Go North" and another EP track "[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeVlY3s0rog Hole In My Heart]" being used in "Bones" (Fox),> "Finding Carter" (MTV) [3] and Idris Elba film "100 Streets".[4] His song "Shiver" was used in supernatural horror "Visions" (Universal Pictures) starring Isla Fisher.[5] Whilst Angus recorded his debut album with Paul Moessl producing,[6] awareness of Angus Powell's music grew with KCRW in Los Angeles featuring "Monsters" as their Top Tune,[7] and Paste Magazine premiered the video.[8] Halogen then followed up the EP with the release of his debut album, "[https://www.allmusic.com/album/before-the-grey-mw0003122131 Before The Grey]" on 29 September 2017.[9] Shortly after his album release his song 'Truth' was used in "Criminal Minds" (CBS) and (MTV) also featured a number of Angus' songs on their 2018 hit show "Young and Pregnant" As of December 2018 Angus has had over 2.5 million streams on Spotify and an equal number on Apple music.
