Anja Augustin (born 1974) is a German opera, oratorio, concert and lieder singer in the vocal range soprano. LifeBorn in Munich, already during her school time she received a musical/artistic education in piano, flute, singing, ballet and jazz dance. Between 1991 and 1994 Augustin appeared frequently in school and music school projects, among others in the opera Bastien und Bastienne and in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. She studied singing (1994-2000) at the Leopold Mozart Centre in Augsburg and at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg/Augsburg with Dorothea Chryst. She then attended further education classes with Dorothea Chryst (opera) and Edith Wiens. (song). Masterclasses followed with Durch soprano Margreet Honig,[1][2] Rudolf Janssen and Brigitte Fassbaender. From 1996 to 2003 the soprano was a member of the vocal soloists and of the {{ill|Kammerchor Stuttgart|de}} under the direction of Frieder Bernius, with whom she undertook concert tours through Europe, the USA, Israel, Asia and Canada. Guest engagements led Augustin to the theatres of Augsburg and Ulm, where she appeared in operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, George Frideric Handel and Gaetano Donizetti. In 2002 she made her debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. In the following years she sang the following roles at the opera in Munich, among others: Taumännchen in Hansel and Gretel, Base in Madama Butterfly and the first noble orphan in Der Rosenkavalier. The soprano received her first permanent engagement at the Theater Erfurt in 2003. There she sang Gretel in Hansel und Gretel, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, first elfe in Rusalka, Princess Schafittchen in {{ill|Das Traumfresserchen|de}}, Eva Peron in Evita, Hattie, wardrobe in Kiss Me, Kate and other roles. Highlights of her career were galas at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Johann-Strauss-Festival in Breslau, the Regensburger Kultursommer as well as at The Helix, Dublin with the RTE Orchestra.
