BiographyBorn on 24 April 1865 in Ystad, Sweden, Wengberg was the daughter of Per August Wengberg and Emilia Sophia Carlheim-Gyllensköld. She studied under Edvard Perséus in Stockholm (ca. 1884) and Bengt Nordenberg in Düsseldorf as well as in Paris.[3][2] From 1890 to 1894 she lived in Finland.[2] Wengberg first exhibited in 1903, often painting brightly coloured portraits. She became an active member of the Önningeby artists colony on the island of Åland where she became a friend of Eva Acke. Her 1893 painting of Önningeby shows Eva Maria Topelius strolling with J.A.G. Acke, her husband to be.[1] She returned to Önningeby as late as 1920 as evidenced by one of her paintings.[3] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.lexikonettamanda.se/show.php?aid=13974|title=Anna Wengberg|publisher=Konstnärslexikonett Amanda|accessdate=18 March 2017 |language=Swedish}} {{commons}}{{authority control}}{{Sweden-artist-stub}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Wengberg, Anna}}2. ^1 2 {{cite web|url=http://runeberg.org/nordmal/0597.html|title=Wengberg, Anna|publisher=Svenska Konstnärer|accessdate=18 March 2017 |language=Swedish}} 3. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://museum.helsingborg.se/web/object/475844|title=Wengberg, Anna|publisher=Helsingborg|accessdate=18 March 2017 |language=Swedish}} 6 : 1865 births|1936 deaths|People from Ystad|Swedish painters|Swedish women artists|Swedish expatriates in Finland |
