After graduating from City College of New York, Alfred pursued a career as a civil engineer.[9] Jeanne Lacy Pramaggiore was a girl scout leader who later worked on political campaigns. She also served as a president of the Ohio Genealogical Society.[10] Pramaggiore graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in theater.[11] She later attended DePaul University College of Law and served as the editor-in-chief of the school's Law Review. She earned her law degree in 1989.[11] CareerWhile still living in Ohio, Pramaggiore completed the management training program at Elder Beerman Department Store.[12] She went on to become an assistant department manager at the store and then became a buyer for Snyder's Department Store in Louisville, Kentucky.[13][10][12] After attending law school, Pramaggiore took a position as a clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois under Judge Charles P. Kocoras. She considered Judge Kocoras a 'significant mentor.'[14] She clerked from 1989 to 1990. She next became an associate and eventually a partner at the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery, remaining there until 1998.[10] Commonwealth EdisonPramaggiore joined Commonwealth Edison as an attorney focused on deregulation and was named senior vice president at the utility in 2006.
