词条 | Arignotus |
释义 |
Arignotus is described as shabby and dirty, wearing his hair long and having a grave expression. Modern scholars have suggested that there was not a historical person with this name, but that "Arignotus" represents a popularly known type of the time, and is essentially a stand-in for Pythagoras himself.[2] Other scholars disagree with this hypothesis.[3] There is an unrelated, otherwise unknown Arignotus mentioned in Aeschines's speech Against Timarchus.[4] References1. ^Lucian, Philopseudeis c. 29, &c. {{DGRBM|author=WS|title= Arignotus |volume=1|page=285-286|url=https://quod.lib.umich.edu/m/moa/acl3129.0001.001/300}}2. ^1 {{cite book | last =Dickie | first =Matthew | title =Magic and Magicians in the Greco-Roman World | publisher =Psychology Press | date =2003 | pages = 196,204,208 | language =English | url =https://books.google.com/books?id=TgfLYOZPHSMC | isbn = 9780415311298 | accessdate=2018-10-19}} 3. ^{{cite book | last =Ogden | first =Daniel | editor-last1=Morgan | editor-first1=John Robert | editor-last2=Jones | editor-first2=Meriel | title =Philosophical Presences in the Ancient Novel | chapter=The Love of Wisdom and the Love of Lies: The Philosophers and Philosophical Voices of Lucian's Philopseudes | publisher =Barkhuis | series =Ancient narrative | volume =10 | date =2007 | pages =196 | language =English | url =https://books.google.com/books?id=DyKsnRoCbq4C | isbn = 9789077922378 | issn = 1574-5066 | accessdate=2018-10-19}} 4. ^{{cite book | last =Aeschines | authorlink =Aeschines | editor-last1=Wolpert | editor-first1=Andrew | editor-last2=Kapparis | editor-first2=Konstantinos | title =Legal Speeches of Democratic Athens: Sources for Athenian History | publisher =Hackett Publishing | date =2011 | pages =257 | language =English | url =https://books.google.com/books?id=jctgDwAAQBAJ | isbn = 9781603846066 | accessdate=2018-10-19}} 2 : 2nd-century Romans|Pythagoreans |
