Arthur "Art" Cruz (born May 27, 1988 in Downey, California) is a Mexican-American drummer who has played in metal bands such as Prong (2012–present) and for the deathcore/symphonic metal band Winds of Plague (2008–2012, 2015–present). Art grew up in the suburb city of South El Monte located east of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley. While attending South El Monte High School Art joined the marching band percussion section and performed from 2004–2006.[1] In 2008 was asked to join Winds of Plague and recorded the album The Great Stone War. The album peaked at #72 on the Billboard 200.[1] In 2011 he performed on the band's next album, Against the World, which peaked at #60 on the Billboard 200. In 2012 Cruz left Winds of Plague citing "creative differences"[2] and was asked to play for Prong. Art has toured and recorded on the covers album Songs from the Black Hole. In 2015 he returned to Winds of Plague as drummer, while continuing to perform with Prong. In 2017, Cruz collaborated on drums on alternative metal project Klogr for the single Technocracy and a European Tour with The Rasmus. In 2018, he filled in for Chris Adler on Lamb of God's North America tour. As of November 2018, he continues to cover for Chris Adler behind the drums as they support Slayer on the European leg of their farewell tour. Cruz endorses Meinl Cymbals,[3] Crush Drums, Trick Pedals, and Vic Firth. Art is an avid baseball fan and is known to be a die hard Los Angeles Dodger fan. With this, Art Founded and owns the Lifestyle Baseball Apparel brand, BASELORDS.
