Among the founders was the Surrealist poet Georges Henein; the group was based mostly but not exclusively on Surrealism.{{r|don}} HistoryThe origins of Art et Liberté lie in a manifesto published by Henein and others on 22 December 1938 with the title Vive l'art dégéneré!
