Goel is an Indian computer scientist and a Professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology. He is the Editor-in-Chief of AI Magazine published by the Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and an Associate Editor of Design Science Journal published by the Design Research Society. He is Co-Chair of the 41st Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society to be held in Montreal, Canada, from July 24 through July 28, 2019. He serves on the Steering Committees of the ACM Conference on Creativity & Cognition and the ACC Conference on Computational Creativity. ResearchGoel conducts research into artificial intelligence, cognitive science and human-centered computing with a focus on computational design and creativity. In 2016, his Design & Intelligence Laboratory developed Jill Watson, a virtual teaching assistant for answering questions in online education.[1] His research has appeared in leading journals and conferences (including Artificial Intelligence,[2] Computer-Aided Design,[3] Design Studies,[4] and Journal of Autism & Developmental Disorders[5]), and has been covered by major news sources (including Wall Street Journal[6] and National Public Radio[7]). TeachingGoel teaches an online course on knowledge-based artificial intelligence as part of Georgia Tech’s Online Master of Science in Computer Science program.[8] The video lessons for the course are available for free from Udacity.[9] Selected worksEdited Volumes
