It is from the Sparsi section.[4][5] The species was first described in 1965.[6] It has been isolated from soil in Costa Rica.[4] It has been reported to produce auroglaucin.[4] Growth and morphologyA. biplanus has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates.
