She is based off the Greek deity of the same name. Athena first appeared in All-Star Comics #8 and was adapted by William Moulton Marston and Harry G. Peter. Fictional character biographyAthena is the Greek Goddess of Wisdom. She had a hand in helping her fellow Gods into bringing Queen Hippolyta's sculpture of a little girl to life which played into the origin of Wonder Woman.[1] In the Post-Crisis, Athena was present at a meeting with her fellow Gods in to talk about the dwindling worshipping from the mortals. After Zeus deemed this issue beneath him and left, Athena led Aphrodite, Ares, Demeter, Hestia, and Hermes to the Underworld where the Cavern of Souls is. The Cavern of Souls is where Gaia has housed the souls of women who have been unjustly killed by men. They harvest the souls where they reincarnate them into Amazons and given a home on Themyscira except for one that Athena had saved for the day when Hippolyta sculpted a baby out of shoreline clay and Athena infused the baby sculpture with that spirit enabling Princess Diana to be born.[2] In September 2011, The New 52 rebooted DC's continuity. In this new timeline, Athena is depicted as humanoid owl and is reintroduced when she appears before Diana, telling her that she supports her struggles.[3] Powers and abilitiesAs a deity, Athena possesses vast supernatural abilities like size-changing, shapeshifting, and immortality. In other mediaAthena appears in the Justice League Action episode "The Trouble with Truth," voiced by Jessica Walter. This version is accompanied by a mechanical owl named Bubo (similar to the mechanical owl of the same name from Clash of the Titans) who turns into her bow when she magically assumes her battle attire. She visits Wonder Woman where she tells her that there is an opening for God of Truth on Mount Olympus and that she would like her to fill that void. When a threat involving the H.I.V.E. seeking to detonate a cobalt fusion bomb at the docks of Metropolis is revealed, Athena accompanies Wonder Woman, Batman, and Green Arrow to the docks of Metropolis. During this time, Green Arrow asks Athena if there is an opening for an archer for the hunt, Athena tells Green Arrow that Artemis holds that job. Athena assists Wonder Woman, Batman, and Green Arrow into fighting the H.I.V.E. After Wonder Woman does a tactic that would trick the H.I.V.E. Master into voice-deactivating the cobalt fusion bomb, Athena is impressed with Wonder Woman's strategy. When Green Arrow asks if she needs an archer who can handle love, Athena states that Green Arrow would have to wear a diaper for that job. Athena is featured in the 2017 Wonder Woman film.
