Atiye Sultan ({{lang-ota|عطیه سلطان}}; 2 January 1824 – 11 August 1850) was an Ottoman princess, the daughter of Sultan Mahmud II.

Early life

She was born on 2 January 1824. Her mother was Perfizifelek Kadın.{{sfn|Uluçay|2011|p=195}}{{sfn|Sakaoğlu|2008|p=557}} She had two sisters, Hatice Sultan, one year younger than her,{{sfn|Uluçay|2011|p=197}} and Fatma Sultan, four years younger than her.{{sfn|Uluçay|2011|p=201}}[1]

Marriage

At the age of fifteen her father bethrothed her to Rodosizade Ahmed Fethi Pasha.{{sfn|Uluçay|2011|p=195}} The marriage took place during the reign of her elder half-brother on 8 August 1840 in Eyüp,[1] when Atiye was sixteen and Ahmed Fethi was thirty nine years old.{{sfn|Sakaoğlu|2008|p=558}} The couple were given the Arnavutköyü Palace as their residence. After that, she lived in the Kuruçeşme Palace, Esma Sultan Palace and Eyüphan Villa located in Kağıthane, between Eyüp and Defterdar.{{sfn|Uluçay|2011|p=196}}{{sfn|Sakaoğlu|2008|p=559}}

The couple had two daughters, Seniye Hanımsultan, born on 3 October 1843, and Feride Hanımsultan, born on 30 May 1847. Both of them were born in the Kuruçeşme Palace.[1]{{sfn|Uluçay|2011|p=196}}{{sfn|Sakaoğlu|2008|p=559}}

Death

Atiye Sultan died on 11 August 1850, and was buried in the mausoleum of her father located in Divanyolu, Istanbul.{{sfn|Uluçay|2011|p=196}}

Issue

Atiye and Ahmed Fethi had two daughters:

  • Seniye Hanımsultan (Istanbul, Kuruçeşme Palace, 3 October 1843 – Istanbul, Nişantaşı Palace, 10 December 1910, buried in Mahmud II Mausoleum), married and had issue;
  • Feride Hanımsultan (Istanbul, Kuruçeşme Palace, 30 May 1847 – Arnavutköy Palce, 1920), married and had issue;
