The constituency elects 4 deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known as TDs). The method of election is the single transferable vote form of proportional representation (PR-STV). History and boundariesThe constituency was created for the 1923 general election to the 4th Dáil, partially replacing the Waterford–Tipperary East constituency that was used for elections to previous Dáil.[1] The Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2013 defines the constituency as:[1] "The city of Waterford; and the county of Waterford."
