{{Orphan|date=February 2018}}{{notability|date=August 2018}}A.W. Peet (born Amanda W. Peet[1]) is a professor of physics at the University of Toronto. Peet's research interests include a focus on string theory as a theory of quantum gravity, quantum field theory and applications of string theory to black holes, gauge theories, and cosmology.[2]

Peet comes from New Zealand and earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Canterbury in 1990. In 1994, Peet received a doctorate in physics from Stanford University. From 1994 to 1997 Peet worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University and from 1997 to 2000 as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, University of California, Santa Barbara. Since 2000, Peet teaches and conducts research as a full professor at the University of Toronto.[2]

Peet identifies as non-binary and is a New Zealand citizen with a passport using an unspecified gender. The professor debated fellow University of Toronto colleague Jordan Peterson on Canadian television on several occasions, garnering significant public attention.[2][3][4][5]
