The district also includes the Winchester Hotel, on E. Durham Street, which was built in the 1890s, enlarged after 190o, and operated into the 1930s. In 1983 it was a single family residence. Adjacent is the former home of the bookkeeper of the Jackson Supply Company.[2] Major Robert J. Bacon, Sr., was the original landowner of the area.[2] The district was one of three in Baconton listed on the National Register at the same time, as part of a review of all historic resources in Baconton, along with the George W. Jackson House.[3] References{{Commons category|Baconton Commercial Historic District}}1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places}}{{GeorgiaUS-NRHP-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=83003603}}|title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: Baconton Commercial Historic District |publisher=National Park Service|author=Erick Montgomery and Richard Cloues |date=1983 |accessdate=March 24, 2017 }} With {{NRHP url|id=83003603|photos=y|title=four photos from 1982}}. 3. ^{{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=64000121}} |title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: Historic Resources of Baconton, Mitchell Co., Georgia |publisher=National Park Service |author=Erick Montgomery and Richard Cloues |date=October 10, 1983 |accessdate=March 23, 2017 }} 3 : Historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places in Georgia (U.S. state)|Buildings and structures completed in 1900|National Register of Historic Places in Mitchell County, Georgia |
