Toma was appointed in 2017 to serve in the Arizona House of Representatives representing the 22nd legislative district as a member of the Republican Party.[1] Toma replaced Phil Lovas, who resigned to accept a federal appointment. Toma was subsequently elected to a full term in the 2018 elections. Toma is a real estate broker and former Peoria city councilman.[2] ElectionsToma was appointed on a 5 to 1 vote to serve as a Peoria council member in June 2014, when Cathy Carlat resigned to run for mayor. However, Toma was defeated in the special election in 2014.[3] He lost again in 2016.[4] His successful 2018 campaign featured endorsements from a variety of conservative Arizonans including Congresswoman Debbie Lesko, outgoing State Senator Judy Burges, State Representative David Livingston, and Jeff DeWit, who served as Arizona State Treasurer and was also the COO of the Trump for President campaign. Toma was the top vote-getter in the GOP primary and again in the general election, where he received the 3rd highest vote total of any State Representative in the state (65,310).
