Composition"Best 4 U" is a 3 minute and 59 second synth-funk song with influences of R&B. It was written by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, Jacob Kasher "JKash" Hindlin, Alexander "Xplicit" Izquierdo, Andrew Haas, and Ian Franzino. Production was handled by Bunetta, Afterhrs, and Noah "Mailbox" Passavoy. The song is primarily composed with synthesizers and electronic percussion along with guitars, vocals, and synth bass.
