Bethany Hills Camp and Conference Center is a 370-acre area located in the rolling hills of both Cheatham and Dickson Counties near Kingston Springs, Tennessee. Each year over 400 children, youth, and adults from the sixty-four congregations of the Tennessee Disciples of Christ (CCTN) participate in summer camp ministry at Bethany Hills. Also, each summer the Tennessee Chapter of the American Cancer Society sponsors three weeks of camps for children with cancer and their siblings.

History

Originally created by Miss Fanny Battle, Bethany Hills (then the Fresh Air Camp) was created as a vacation spot and convalescence facility for impoverished mothers and their children, and in the early part of the 20th century, it served as a place for inner city children, particularly those infected with or susceptible to tuberculosis, out into the more healthful country air. At its peak, two hundred thirty-eight children and eighty-six adults resided there, with a school organized for the children.^[1]^[2]^[3]

Atmosphere

Not only does the magnificent landscape offer a beautiful picture of Middle Tennessee, but the atmosphere around the Chapel by the Lake, the Lodge Meeting Room, the campfire areas, and fellowship and study areas, provides a "beautiful view" of country living. Participants grow as Christians, returning to their daily lives renewed and responsive to the challenge of living faithfully. The camp has a recreation hall, a swimming pool, ball field, hiking trails, and a good 'ol fashioned fishin hole.' At the heart of Bethany Hills is the Lodge, which has a wonderful meeting/gathering room and dorm-style sleeping rooms.

Away from the noise of towns and highways, visitors can enjoy the quiet serenity of the lake and surrounding woods. Free from distractions, they can use the time to focus on their spiritual development, develop a strategic operating plan, experience team building, or take a sabbatical and regroup.
