The village, named "Bé-Dīwé", "Bêdaiwê" and "Bedevi" in history, was the settlement of Assyrian people within the Nochiya tribe in the early 20th century, before they were displaced by Ottoman Turks in 1914 and onward. Beyyurdu Dam is a gravity dam currently under construction on the Bembo River (an eventual tributary of the Great Zab).[2] CultureThe village has two Syriac churches dedicated to St. John the Baptist and St. Cyriacus dating from the 5th-6th centuries. EconomyBecause it's in a rural area, the economy of the village is based on agriculture and animal husbandry. InfrastructureThere is a primary school in the village and a sewer network.
