He is the Editor in Chief of The Equator Line a themed quarterly magazine exploring long-form journalism in India. He also heads Palimpsest, the group's publishing arm. Education and WorkBorn in 24 Parganas, West Bengal, Roy read English Literature at the University of Calcutta for a master's degree.{{citation needed|date=January 2017}} His novel, An Escape into Silence(New Century, 2002)[1] is set in the backdrop of the Naxalite movement that swept across West Bengal in 1970-71. CareerAmong the publications he previously worked for are India Today,[2] Indian Express[3] and The Times of India.[3] IIC Quarterly, the journal of the India International Centre, published a number of his papers. 'Paradoxes of Dalit Politics in Uttar Pradesh’ was the first of the series published in the journal during 2002-2004.[3] His essay, ‘Cricket’s Social Subtext’ forms part of an anthology, India: A National Culture (SAGE Publications Pvt. Ltd., 2003).
