Bibisara Assaubayeva (born 26 February 2004)[1] is a chess prodigy from Taraz,[2] Kazakhstan. In January 2017 she was ranked world no. 1 U14 woman player.[4]. Bibisara is 5 time World Junior Champion at the several age categories, and two times vice-Champion at the age of 10 and 14 [1]

Biography

One of the four children of Liana Tanzharikova [2] [3]

Bibisara played her first chess game at the age of four, taught by her grandfather.[9] She won her first city championship when she was six years old, and has gone on to win many championships all over the world. From 2010 she trained under her coach Azamat Aubakirov, playing chess for six hours per day. She achieved the title of woman FIDE Master at the age of 7 when she won the World Cadet Championship in Classical Chess in Caldas Novas, Brazil. She is still the youngest WFM in the history of chess. [4]

She also competes in artistic gymnastics as well as making good progress in her school education; she started to learn English when she was five years old, and by 2011 she was two years ahead in her school work.[14]

In 2016 Bibisara with her family moved to live in Moscow,Russia, where she played for Russian Junior National team and won one gold medal at the World U12 Cadets Championship in classical chess,

Batumi, Georgia.[5], and a silver medal at World U14 Cadet Championship in classical chess,

Uruguay, Montevideo. [6]

In 2017, at the age of 13, she competed in the Men's European Championship in Minsk against adult grandmasters from Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Israel and Poland.[2] She won three games, lost three and drew four times, gaining a certificate of FIDE Master,[18] a performance described as phenomenal.[19]

In 2019 Bibisara decided to move back to Kazakhstan and play for Kazakhstan National Federation and team, she never applied for Russian citizenship when living in Russia.[7]. In March 2019 Bibisara played her debut in Kazakhstan National team at the World team Championship on the 3rd and 2nd boards and gained 5 points out of 9- the result was the best in the team.[8]

Chess grandmaster Darmen Sadvakasov has prophesied a great chess future for Bibisara.[2]

Controversies

The well-known Russian coach GM Evgeniy Solozhenkin accused Bibisara of cheating during the World Youth U14 (September 2017) in Uruguay. The FIDE ethics commission has suspended Solozhenkin for making unsubstantiated allegations of cheating, published in different articles on the internet. A group of grandmasters has written an open letter in support of Solozhenkin.[23] Liana Tanzharikova, mother of Bibisara Assaubayeva sued in the court E. Solozhenkin for defamatory allegations made in public and media that offended the honor and dignity of her daughter Bibisara Assaubayeva and won.The Appellate Moscow court obliged Solozhenkin to bring apologies, to refute his allegations in media and delete defamatory articles and recover from him compensation sum of 100 thousands Rubles.   • May 2013 – world champion, girls U9, Porto Caras, Greece[9]
  • May 2012 – world champion, girls U9, Iasi, Romania[9]
  • March 2012 – champion of Kazakhstan in blitz chess, girls U12 (when she was 8 years old)[9]
  • at the age of seven she was awarded the title of Woman FIDE Master of the World Chess Federation[9]
