}}Bigblu Broadband Plc, formerly Satellite Solutions Worldwide Group PLC, was formed in November 2008 by Andrew Walwyn,^[1] Simon Clifton,^[2] Selwyn Petterson^[3]{{failed verification|date=May 2017}} and Tom Wheeler. The company offers satellite internet to rural homes and businesses across Europe and Australia who cannot access traditional fibre internet.

Bigblu Broadband Plc began with offering Ka band satellite internet. On this type of connection broadband download and upload speeds were slow and prices were high. In 2010 the arrival of KA-SAT, Ka band satellite communications brought significantly higher speeds, better throughput's and a pricing structure more accessible to the consumer and small business user.

By attaching a satellite dish (of a similar size to dishes used for satellite TV purposes) to the outside of the premises which is connected to an indoor modem, BBB’s broadband offering presents a customer experience that is similar to that offered by wired broadband and the connection can be shared in the normal way with PCs, tablets and smart-phones via a normal wired or wireless router.

BBB purchases broadband capacity from a variety of satellite companies, sells or rents to the end user the necessary hardware to access the internet (and installs the necessary equipment, if requested) and then provides an ongoing satellite broadband service on the terms of an airtime tariff selected by the customer.

2008

Bigblu Broadband Plc was founded in November 2008 by Andrew Walwyn, Simon Clifton, Selwyn Petterson and Tom Wheeler.

2009

In February, the first distribution agreement was signed for Ku band Eutelsat Tooway services (maximum speed of 2 Mbit/s download, 256 kbit/s upload).{{fact|date=August 2017}}

The BBB website was designed and launched in March to market satellite broadband with a full e-commerce offering; becoming the first company in Europe to do so.{{fact|date=August 2017}}

2010

The ToowayDirect.com was put into place in October, a dedicated site focused on Eutelsat’s Tooway brand.

In November, the launch of Ka Sat, the first Ka band satellite over Europe – significantly improved speeds over Ku band technology.

2011

The signed distribution agreement with Eutelsat was implemented in June for new Ka band Tooway services across Europe (maximum speeds of 10 Mbit/s download, 4 Mbit/s upload).{{fact|date=August 2017}}

In April, the distribution agreement was signed with SES for their new Ka band network.

BBB provides last mile and last resort internet and private circuit connectivity, allocated links, recovery and back-up system connectivity, a selection of voice, data and video and connectivity in an isolated location.

Consumer

Bigblu Broadband Plc provides speed up to 22 Mb in Europe and 30 Mb within certain countries. A phone is not required as the connectivity comes through the satellite dish.

Government and military

BBB produce hardware to secure networks and delivers dedicated satellite broadband for Government and Military use and security surveillance connectivity in remote areas.
