The population was 726 at the 2000 census. GeographyAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 22.8 square miles (59.1 km2), of which 22.6 square miles (58.5 km2) is land and 0.2 square mile (0.6 km2) (0.96%) is water. The population density was 32.1 people per square mile (12.4/km2). There were 340 housing units at an average density of 15.0 per square mile (5.8/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.76% White, 0.14% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 0.14% from other races. There were 278 households out of which 36.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.8% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.1% were non-families. 20.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.02. In the town, the population was spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 32.4% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males. The median income for a household in the town was $40,667, and the median income for a family was $42,500. Males had a median income of $27,200 versus $22,788 for females. The per capita income for the town was $18,011. About 8.0% of families and 10.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.1% of those under age 18 and 8.7% of those age 65 or over.
